According to the Mail on Sunday:
- Dixons, which includes the Currys, PC World and The Link brands, has already made serious inroads on the Continent.
- In 1999, it bought Scandinavian computer and electrical appliances retailer Elkjop, turning it into the leader in its field in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
- Dixons has also moved into Hungary and the Czech Republic and last year it paid GBP 230 million for Italian retailer UniEuro.
