Dealings with Koch brothers
Snider teamed up with billionaire Charles Koch in 2014 to give $5 million to the University of Maryland's business school for the Ed Snider Center for Enterprise and Markets. According to Ade Adeniji from Inside Philanthropy, 'That gift, like the higher ed gifts that Koch makes all the time, is aimed at advancing free market ideals on campus.'
Counterjihad funder
Snider's foundation gave USD $400,000 to the anti-Muslim David Horowitz Freedom Center between 2011 and 2014.[4] The Clarion Fund was another grant recipient, receiving $17,500 between 2013-2014, as was the Middle East Forum, which received $10,000 in 2012.
Ayn Rand Institute and Atlas Shrugged backer
In the 1980s, Snider put down founding money to help establish the Ayn Rand Institute. Snider also earned an executive producer credit on Atlas Shrugged Part I, a film version of Rand's best known work. According to Snider, he had a 'love affair' with Atlas Shrugged for 50 years because it is the 'only book that provides a moral defense of capitalism.' [3]
