George Howarth is a Labour Party member of Parliament (MP), who has represented Knowsley North 1986-97, Knowsley North and Sefton East 1997-2010, and Knowsley from 2010 to date. His parliamentary career has included posts as Shadow Spokesperson (Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) 1989-94, Shadow Spokesperson (Home Affairs) 1994-97, Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Home Office) 1997-99, Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Northern Ireland Office) 1999-01. He has been a member of the Intelligence and Security Committee since 2005.[1]
