Ron Dennis is the group CEO of Formula One racing team McLaren International.
Career
Dennis' career began at Formula One team Brabham, before starting his own team Rondel in 1971 - initially racing in Formula Two.
After obtaining backing from tobacco company Marlboro, Denis merged with McLaren in 1980 to form McLaren International. The team were the dominant team in 1980s and won many titles. Dennis stepped down as McLaren team principal in 2009 and was replaced by Martin Whitmarsh. After a short break from the sport, Dennis returned to McLaren as group CEO in 2014 and his first act was to remove Whitmarsh from his role and replace him with rivals Lotus' Eric Boullier.[1]
Letter to the Telegraph
On 1 April 2015 Dennis was one of 103 business leaders who wrote to the Telegraph praising the British Conservative Party's economic policies and claiming a Labour government would 'threaten jobs and deter investment' in the UK.[2]
