Dan Byles has been the Conservative MP for North Warwickshire since 2010. He is a member of the Energy and Climate Change Committee.[1]

Fracking

Byles is chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Unconventional Oil and Gas.[2]

At a conference in July 2013, Byles warned that the issue of compensation for communities affected by fracking could be divisive, the Telegraph reported:

"Generating the money for the local community is the easy bit - the hard bit is defining who is the local community, who actually should be benefiting? There is a danger if you say, 'You are 7km away from a pad but a lateral fracture is going to come under your home, so we need to compensate you', that is feeding the myth that you are going to even notice or be affected by the fact this is coming under you.[3]
