An SIS Tel Aviv Station was established by the Secret Intelligence Service shortly after Israeli independence. it was initially under hostile surveillance and effective liaison was not established until the mid-1950s, when Britain and Israel perceived a common threat from Egypt's President Gamal Nasser.[1]
