Ronnie Anderson is a former warrant officer in the Force Research Unit (FRU) according to journalist Liam Clarke, who has stated Anderson was responsible for naming Freddie Scappaticci as the FRU agent in the IRA codenamed Stakeknife.[1]

Anderson was awarded the Queen's Gallantry Medal for service in Northern Ireland in October 1984.[2]
