Steven Harkins is a freelance writer and researcher currently studying for an MSc in Media and Communications Research at the University of Strathclyde. He has written for the British Medical Journal, Demand Media, Spinwatch, Suite 101, Indymedia and PULSE. His writing career began in 2004 working on the aviation trade magazine DARA (Defence Aviation Repair Agency) News.

Steven Harkins is a PhD candidate and tutor in journalism at the University of Sheffield. Formerly a researcher and tutor in Sociology at the School of Applied Social Science at the University of Strathclyde. He has been a researcher for Powerbase since 2008 and is currently working on the British International Studies Association’s ‘Teaching about Terrorism’ project. His writing can be found in ''Critical Studies on Terrorism'' and the ''British Medical Journal'', as well as occasional articles for the ''Spinwatch'' website.
 
 
He joined Powerbase as a researcher in 2008 and holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Politics and Journalism Studies from the University of Stirling.
