Dr Rita E. Hauser is President of The Hauser Foundation. She is an international lawyer and of Counsel to the New York City law firm, Strook & Strook & Lavan where she was a senior partner for more than twenty years. Hauser was appointed by President George W. Bush in December 2001 to the President’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board and to the President’s Intelligence Oversight Board.
She is interested in international conflict resolution, security and human rights. Hauser has served on commissions affiliated with the US Department of State, The Brookings Institution, The International Center for Peace in the Middle East, and other institutions. Hauser chairs The International Peace Academy (which is affiliated with the United Nations), and was the Founding Chair of The Advisory Board of the RAND Center for Middle East Public Policy. She is a member of the Council of The International Institute for Strategic Studies in London and a director of many organisations, including: The RAND Corporation, The Americas Society, The New York Philharmonic Society and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
She served on the Visiting Committee of the John F. Kennedy School at Harvard University, and is Vice-Chairman of the Dean’s Advisory Board of Harvard Law School. Dr Hauser was National Co-Chair of the just completed Harvard University Campaign. She holds advanced degrees from the University of Strasbourg in France, Harvard and NYU Law Schools, and the University of Paris Law Faculty.
In April of 1997 she and her husband founded the Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organisations at Harvard University, and she is Chair of its Advisory board. [1]
