City of London Solicitors' Law Society is one of the largest local Law Societies in the United Kingdom.
"There are 17,000 solicitors practising in the Square Mile, who make up 15% of the profession in England and Wales and the CLLS represents over 14,000 of these solicitors through individual and corporate membership. Its members include some of the largest international law firms in the world."[1]
Influencing policy
According to its website: "We are a powerful force in ensuring that the views and concerns of City solicitors are represented and heard in national and international debates which affect their practice. The City of London Law Society regularly responds to Government, SRA and Law Commission consultations."
The Society's Revenue Law Committee is described as "instrumental in making fiscal representations to the Inland Revenue at the highest level".[2]
