Jean Monnet (November 9, 1888 - March 16, 1979)[1] was a French government adviser. He was the main inspiration for the Schuman declaration, which led to the European Coal and Steel Community.[2]
During World War I, Monnet was the French representative of the Allied Executive Committee for the reallocation of common resources. He was deputy Secretary General of the League of Nations following its 1918 foundation.[1]
