Independent Healthcare Advisory Services (IHAS) is an influential lobby group representing private healthcare companies in the UK. Members include hospital groups, cosmetic treatment providers and staffing agencies.

IHAS priorities

IHAS's primary function, according to its website is "in the area of operational policy and regulation as it affects the independent sector.[1] Its current priorities (2010) are:

  • Developing the independent sector’s operational policy, quality assurance and representational infrastructure
  • Engaging in detailed policy and lobbying activity to influence the regulatory framework
  • Working with the Care Quality Commission to reduce the administrative, regulatory and inspection burden on providers
  • Establishing a framework for the self-regulation of non-surgical cosmetic treatments and fillers.

Members

IHAS's members in 2010 include: BMI Healthcare, Bupa, Care UK, Circle Health, General Healthcare Group, HCA International, Nuffield Health, Ramsey Health Care, Serco Health and Spire Healthcare.[2]
