In 1988 he became chairman of plant breeding international and in 1992 his role expanded to include chairmanship of the Unilever Plantation Group. Iain Ferguson CBE is the Honorary Vice President of the British Nutrition Foundation (BNF). Ferguson also sits on the Council of Food Policy Advisors, a committee which is part of the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs. Ferguson is also active in a number of key industry groups. He is the current President of the Food & Drink Federation, and is Past President of the Institute of Grocery Distribution.[1]
Career

In May 2009, Ferguson stood down as chief executive of Tate & Lyle after a spate of profits warnings that forced the Golden Syrup maker out of the FTSE-100 [2]
