Alan Haworth

Alan Haworth (Lord Haworth) was made a life peer and Labour Party member in the House of Lords in July 2004. [1]
Background
Haworth was appointed to the staff of the Parliamentary Labour Party (PLP) in 1974, where he remained working at for over thirty years. In 1992, when John Smith took over leadership of the Labour Party, Haworth was appointed as secretary of the PLP. He remained in this role until his retirement in 2004. [2]
On his retirement he was elevated to the peerage as Baron Haworth, of Fisherfield in Ross and Cromarty. [2]
