Robert Goff
Robert Goff is a crossbench member in the House of Lords. He was given the title of Lord Goff of Chieveley when he was made a life peer in February 1986. [1]
Goff has held a number of positions on the Committee in Parliament between 1985 and 1991. Ranging from working in the Procedure Committee, the House of Lords Offices Committee to the European Union Committee. [1]
Lord Goff studied at Eton College and the University of Oxford before going on to serve in the army and as a fellow of Lincoln College, Oxford. Goff practised as a barrister and went on to work as a member of the Queen's Counsel. He was also appointed to the High Court in 1975 and to the Court of Appeal in 1982, before being given his life peer membership in 1986.
Goff however, chose to take a leave of absence from his role in the House of Lords in May 2010.
