British Neuroscience Association

The British Neuroscience Association (BNA), founded in 1968 as the British Brain Research Association (BRA) and renamed in 1996, is a learned society with around 1700 members. Stated among their aims are to promote neuroscience research, advise on issues in neuroscience, and engage with the public and the media.[1]

Affiliations
- BNA is listed as one of the previous funders of the Science Media Centre.[2] BNA publishes SMC events and activities on their news page.[3][4][5] The two organisations also "joined together to run a pre-conference briefing on research being presented at the BNA Festival of Neuroscience at the Barbican Centre in London," where BNA President David Nutt discussed "his work using magic mushrooms as a treatment for depression and why regulation is holding it back."[6] The event was sponsored by Wellcome Trust, Sigma, Medical research Council, and BBSRC among manz others.[7]
