Matt Cavanagh

Matt Cavanagh is a former special adviser to the Labour Government. He worked for home secretary David Blunkett; for the chancellor Gordon Brown; for defence secretary Des Browne; and for Gordon Brown again as Prime Minister from June 2007 to May 2010.

Cavanagh has had a number of jobs since leaving the Government. He is the current director of group government relations at Prudential Plc, a British multinational life insurance and financial services company headquartered in London.

He previously held the role of strategic communications adviser. [1] Prior to this Cavanagh worked at John Lewis as head of public affairs. He also worked for the Turks and Caicos Islands Government as their governance advisor.

Background

Prior to entering Government as a special adviser, Cavanagh worked at the Boston Consulting Group as a consultant and as a lecturer in philosophy at the University of Oxford. [1]

Cavanagh went to the University of Oxford where he studied PPE (politics, philosophy and economics). [1]
