Alex Chisholm became permanent secretary for the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) in September 2016. He previously served as the permanent secretary for the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) from May 2016, before the department merged with the Department for Business Innovation & Skills (BIS) to form BEIS in July 2016.
