Simon Burton was appointed as special adviser for the Department for Transport to Patrick McLoughlin in May 2014. 
From April 2013 until May 2014 Burton was part of the policy and briefing team at Post Office. Before this he was a political adviser to the Conservative Party for two years. 
From 2009 Burton was a constituency organiser at the Huntingdon Conservative Association for two years. Before this, he was a constituency assistant for the office of Jonathan Djanogly MP from September 2007 until October 2009. 
Burton studied at the University of Hull where he undertook a Master of Arts in Legislative Studies (2006 until 2008) and a Bachelor of Arts in Politics (2006).
