James Clappison was the Conservative Party MP for Hertsmere from 1992 to 2015.
In July 2014 he announced he would not be standing in 2015 general election. He was replaced by Oliver Dowden, former chief of staff to prime minister David Cameron, who won the seat by 18,461 votes.
