American Zionist Emergency Council

The American Zionist Emergency Council (AZEC) was established in 1943 by Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver. In 1949 it was renamed the American Zionist Council, and registered as a tax-exempt non-profit organization.[1] It was the parent organization of AIPAC. In 1970 it changed its name again to the American Zionist Federation (May 1970) and became the American Zionist Movement in 1993 - the umbrella organisation for American Zionist organisations.[2]
