Vernon ellis

International Chairman, Accenture with responsibility for the leadership of the firm’s external relations. Ellis represents the firm in public forums,chairing Accenture’s Corporate Citizenship Council, which oversees all Accenture’s community involvement, volunteer and Foundation activities. Ellis joined the firm in 1969 after graduating from Magdalen College, Oxford, with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. He is a regular chairman, moderator and speaker at institutions such as the World Economic Forum.

Ellis is Chairman of the Board of the Prince of Wales International Business Leaders Forum, and a member of Advisory Councils or Boards for: Britain in Europe; IMD; INSEAD; and the Said Business School, University of Oxford. He is a Barclay Fellow at Templeton College, Oxford. He is Deputy Chairman of the Mayor of Seoul’s International Business Advisory Council. As of 2005 he was global director of Enablis, a Canadian-based not-for-profit organisation that supports entrepreneurs in the developing world, and is a director of Martin Randall Travel.

After the Enron affair Accenture distanced itself from Arthur Anderson (now known as Andersen) arguing they had operated as “separate and independent companies since 1989, linked only by a contractual relationship until August 2000, when an arbitrator with the International Chamber of Commerce ruled that Accenture could sever its contractual ties to Arthur Andersen."

Accenture is a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company. Other directors include Mark Moody-Stuart of Shell Anglo American and HSBC.

Ellis is a member of the Centre for European Reform. He is also Chairman of ENO, the Classical Opera Company and the Sacconi Trust, and is a trustee of the Royal College of Music, the Kathleen Ferrier Awards and the Florestan Trust. He is international chairman of Mission, Models and Money. His wife is a trustee of British Youth Opera.
