Theresa Villiers
Theresa Villiers has been the Conservative Party MP for Chipping Barnet since 2003. She was appointed UK environment secretary in July 2019 by Boris Johnson, the incoming prime minister.

Political career
Villiers was appointed Northern Ireland Secretary in September 2012.[1] She resigned from government in July 2016 amidst Prime Minister Theresa May's extensive cabinet makeover, being replaced by James Brokenshire. [2]
She was the minister of state for the Department for Transport from May 2010 until September 2012. [3]
In the 2015 general election she gained a majority of 7,656 in her Chipping Barnet constituency. [4]
Background
Villiers was an MEP for London 1999 to 2005. Following on from this, she worked as the shadow chief secretary to the HM Treasury from 2005 to 2007. She then went on to be the shadow secretary of state for transport from 2007 to 2010. [5]
After university, Villiers worked as a barrister and as a lecturer in law at Kings College, London. [5]
