Sir Robin Young is the non-executive chairman of the A4e Group and the former permanent secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry and Department of Culture, Media and Sport.

He is chairman of lobbying firm Apex Communications.

Career

In the 1980s Young was principal private secretary to Patrick Jenkin, Kenneth Baker and Nicholas Ridley at the Department for the Environment. In 1994 he was first director of the Government Office for London, in 1997 he was head of economic and domestic affairs secretariat in the Cabinet Office, in 1998 he was the permanent secretary for the Department of Culture, Media and Sport and then the Department of Trade & Industry in 2001.[1]

Revolving door

In January 2007 Young was given "unconditional approval" to become a non-executive director of the A4e Group.[2] He is now chairman of the board.[3]

Since leaving the civil service Young has also been appointed deputy chairman of Dr Foster Ltd, chairman of Dr Foster Intelligence Limited, a board member of EEI[1] and chairman of lobbying group Apex Communications.[4]
