Robert S Murray
Robert Murray is a Director (and former Chairman) of Sunderland FC. He donated more than £5000 to the Labour Party in 1998. His personal wealth is estimated at £30 million. He owns 37% of the shares of Sunderland FC (valued at £12 million).
Until December 1999, he was a Non-Executive Director of FKI, an international engineering group. FKI produce lifting products, conveyors, castors, furniture and electrical engineering equipment. Robert Murray's salary at FKI in 1999 was £34,650.
He is Chairman of Sterling Capitol plc, a Leeds-based property group which has developed 3 million sq ft of premises and has £350 million of projects in development. They built the £350 million Capitol Park business centre near Leeds and have joined up with the Teesland Group to redevelop a post office building in Leeds into "West Central", a 10 storey shopping centre, hotel and luxury apartment block worth £120 million. Sterling Capitol is the property development company which built the Sunderland 'Stadium of Light' and is involved in the £80 million redevelopment of the Odsal rugby stadium in Bradford. The company was previously called Laurelwood Ltd, and is part of a network of 12 companies grouped under Sterling Capitol Holdings Limited.
He is also the Chairman of Sovereign Capital Corporation and Omega International Group plc (a Doncaster-based furniture group). He was joint founder of the Spring Ram Kitchen and Bathroom Group, which he left in 1990 after he had floated it on the Stock Exchange, selling most of his shares for around £13 million.
Robert Murray sits on the board of Sunderland AFC alongside Bryan Sanderson of BP. [1]

Dear Editor,
I recently read with interest your website [2] and note that you have included references to Robert S Murray. Whilst Mr Murray has no issue with or comment to make regarding the publication of the website per se, he would like to point out that references made about him are incorrect and would be grateful if you would please consider rectifying these. Some of the changes are due to timing and circumstance, others are factual.

Whilst Mr Murray owns 37% of the company Sunderland PLC delisted from the LSE in August 2004 and therefore there is no listed market capitalisation value for his shareholding.
Sterling Capitol is the property development company, which built the Sunderland 'Stadium of Light' and is involved in the £80 million redevelopment of the Odsal rugby stadium in Bradford.
Whilst Mr Murray was personally involved in the building of the Stadium of Light as chairman of Sunderland AFC ? Sterling Capital was not involved in any way whatsoever. Sterling Capital was also not involved in the redevelopment of Odsal rugby stadium.
He is also the Chairman of Sovereign Capital Corporation and Omega International Group plc (a Doncaster?based furniture group).
Mr Murray is no longer chairman of the Sovereign Capital Corporation but he is the Chairman of Omega International Group Plc, which is a kitchen manufacturer.
