Paul Adams was the BBC's Middle East Correspondent based in Jerusalem from 1989 to 1992 and, again, in 1997 to 2001. Events he covered included the Gulf War, Israel's withdrawal from southern Lebanon, the Pope's visit to Israel and the dawning of the year 2000 in Bethlehem. Before that, he was a BBC reporter based in Belgrade (1993 to 1995) which was followed by two years (1995 to 1997) working as a reporter for international news channel, BBC World. He was appointed as the BBC's Defence Correspondent in May 2001 and in his first year covered stories such as British troop deployments in Macedonia and Afghanistan.

From a Frontline Club program announcement where Adams will be the moderator:

Paul Adams is the BBC's Chief Diplomatic Correspondent for BBC News 24, with a brief that covers a wide range of foreign and diplomatic stories. In his previous role as the BBC's Middle East Correspondent, his reports included Israel's withdrawal from southern Lebanon, the Pope's historic visit to Israel and the dawning of the year 2000 in Bethlehem. He returned to the Middle East for the first anniversary of Yasser Arafat's death and the tenth anniversary of Yitzhak Rabin's assassination.[1]
