Monica Frassoni

Monica Frassoni (born 10 September 1963, Veracruz, Mexico) is a former MEP from the Italian eco-socialist political party the Federation of the Greens (20.07.2004-13.07.2009). She also served at the European Parliament between 20.07.1999-19.07.2004 elected from the Belgian ecological political party Ecolo.[1] She is also one of the trustees of the well-known lobby group Friends of Europe.

  • Temporary agent working for the Green Group in the European Parliament, specialising in constitutional affairs (1990-1999).
  • General Secretary of the NGO 'Young European Federalists' (JEF).
  • Chairman of the Europe Coordinating Bureau (ECB) of youth NGOs (1991-1993).
  • Elected to the European Parliament in 1999 as Member for the Belgian Greens (ECOLO) and in 2004 for the Italian Greens (Federation of the Greens).
  • Co-chairman of the Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance (since 2002).
