Julia Staunig was a partner at public affairs consultancy GPlus (April 2003 - 2008), where she specialised in banking, insurance, competition policy and transport. She advised clients on the development of complex and integral political strategies on the Financial Services Action Plan (FSAP) and for the post-FSAP era. Competition policy is one of the main horizontal issues in her financial services work. She has also worked on a major competition case in the IT industry. In the area of transport, Julia has helped her client to raise awareness within the EU institutions of the potential of new technologies to ease Europe’s traffic problems.[1]

Background

Before joining GPlus in April 2003, she worked in the European Parliament, specialising in agriculture and rural development, notably the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy. Julia has also worked in the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Transport and Energy, where she dealt with land transport.[2]
