Sir Jack Boles (1925-2013) was director-general of the National Trust from 1975 to 1983. he served in the Rifle Brigade in the latter part of World War Two before joining the Colonial Service in which he served as a district commissioner in North Borneo for 17 years before returning to UK in 1964.[1]
