The Insider Elite Awards are known, according to their own website, as ‘Scotland’s Business Oscars’. The candidates for the awards are self-selected from the Scottish business community in affiliation with the Insider magazine. In 2008 the top award, the Insider Elite Leader of the Year, was given to Susan Rice, chief executive of Lloyds TSB Scotland; who may not be such an insider after the restructuring following the subsuming of HBOS [1].
