Hugo Swire

Hugo Swire MP was appointed minister of state at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office on 4 September 2012.[1] Before this, Swire was minister of state at the Northern Ireland Office from 2010 to 2012.[2] Swire has been the MP for East Devon since 2001. [3]

Background

His previous parliamentary roles have included: Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to Theresa May MP in her role as chairman of the Conservative Party in 2003; Opposition Whip between 2003 and 2004; and Shadow Minister for the Arts between 2004 and 2005.[1]

In 2005, Swire secured £30,000 from British American Tobacco for a statue of Sir Walter Raleigh in the East Devon village of East Budleigh.[4]
