Denzil Davidson was appointed as a special adviser to British prime minister Theresa May in August 2016. [1] He will advise specifically on matters concerning the EU and will play a role in upcoming Brexit negotiations.

He was previously a special adviser in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office from 2010 to 2016, and has worked with both Philip Hammond and William Hague in their former roles as foreign secretary.[2]

Background

Davidson used to work for the Conservative Research Department where he was head of the International Section.

He was also special adviser to Hague on EU issues from 2005, a role he held for five years.

Davidson is a member of the Franco-British Council.[3]

Education

Davidson was educated at Edinburgh University, where he read History (MA Hons) and Law (LLB). [4]
