Chris Wilkins is chief speechwriter to prime minister Theresa May and ex-director of strategy at Number 10.

He was appointed director of strategy in September 2016, quit after the snap general election in July 2017, but was later brought back in to help with writing speeches. [1] He previously served May in the home office alongside Fiona Hill and Nick Timothy.

As of December 2016, he had an annual salary of £120,000. [2]

He was formerly a special adviser to Nicky Morgan at the Department for Education from July 2014 to May 2015. Wilkins was the former policy adviser and speech writer to the last two Conservative leaders, and was assistant campaign director to the Conservatives election guru Lynton Crosby in 2005. [3] He was also formerly the director of the Conservative Research Department.

In 2000, he also served as an aide to Ann Widdecombe.
