Chris Rumfitt is the former managing director of Public Affairs at Edelman. [1] [2] He now runs London based lobbying firm Corporate Reputation Consulting.
Biography
According to his previous biography on Edelman's website Rumfitt:
- ...specialises in complex issues management challenges in sectors including energy, transport, property, construction and infrastructure.
- He advises a wide range of companies including property developer Capital & Counties, Balfour Beatty, Capital Shopping Centres and Farrell & Partners. He has also done a considerable amount of work in the energy sector, in particular advising E.ON on high profile issues around nuclear new build.
- Before joining Edelman, Chris spent the previous five years as Head of External Communications at Network Rail, where he led that high-profile company’s public affairs, media relations, crisis communications and community relations activity.
- Earlier in his career he worked in the Press Office at 10 Downing Street for Prime Minister Tony Blair, for the Labour Party in the 1997 General Election campaign.[3]

- Edelman previously handled the account for E.ON UK, which had formed a joint venture with RWE npower, called Horizon Nuclear Power in January 2009 with the aim of developing up to 6600 MW of new nuclear power station capacity at Wylfa on Anglesey and Oldbury in Gloucestershire.[7] Following the conclusion of separate strategic reviews in March 2012, both E.ON and RWE announced their intention to withdraw from UK nuclear and seek new owners for Horizon. [8]
In July 2012 it emerged that E.ON had colluded with government officials to soften the impact of their withdrawal from Horizon on the UK’s new nuclear programme. [9]
