President & CEO Worldwide of Burson Marsteller until he retired in late 2004, Chris Komisarjevsky was previously president and CEO of Burson-Marsteller USA. Until 1995, Mr. Komisarjevsky was president and CEO at Gavin Anderson & Company, a public relations subsidiary of Omnicom.

Before that, Mr. Komisarjevsky held senior positions at Hill and Knowlton, Inc. Over 20 years at H&K, he served as president and CEO of the company's Europe, Middle East and Africa operations, was CEO of its Carl Byoir & Associates subsidiary, was head of the firm's New York office and head of its corporate practice.

During his career, Mr. Komisarjevsky has been responsible for public relations and public affairs activities for major corporate and trade association clients in financial services, building materials, entertainment, pharmaceuticals, health care, communications, real estate, management consulting and consumer products. He has had extensive experience in crisis management and labour negotiations.

A 1996 recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and a member of the David Rockefeller Fellow’s class of 1998, Chris currently serves on the boards of various non-profit organizations, a Department of Defense Advisory Board and is an independent trustee/director of two mutual fund companies.[1]

In March 2006:

Chris Komisarjevsky, the recently retired president and CEO of global public relations giant Burson-Marsteller, has accepted ad interim the Harold Burson faculty chair at Boston University’s College of Communication. He will lead the search for a permanent holder for the College’s first endowed academic chair. He teaches a graduate-level PR course.[2]

The chair was named after Harold Burson:

The Burson Chair was endowed in 2003 by Burson-Marsteller, its employees and clients, and Young & Rubicam.
