The All-Party Parliamentary Group on the Impact of Shale Gas was set up in early 2018 by Conservative MP Lee Rowley to 'explore and debate legislation, policy, regulation and data on shale gas exploration and extraction in the UK and abroad'.

Several MPs on the group represent constituencies where licences have been issued to big oil and gas companies. APPG chair Rowley's constituency includes Marsh Lane, where giant petrochemical firm Ineos hopes to explore for shale gas. Sir Kevin Barron MP, who represents Rother Valley, which includes the Harthill Ineos site. He is co-vice-chair alongside Conservative MP Ben Bradley and Labour MP Louise Haigh. [1]
