Phil Boswell was successfully elected to stand as the Scottish National Party MP for the constituency of Coatbridge, Chryston and Bellshill in the May 2015 general election. [1] Boswell defeated his closest competitor and previous Labour Party MP for the area Tom Clarke. In an election which witnessed the rise of the SNP, Boswell was just one of many Scottish Nationals who gained considerable support from the voters. He received 57% of the vote and a majority of 11,501 overturning a previous Labour majority of over 20,000. [2]
