Andrew Dunlop was appointed UK Prime Minister David Cameron's adviser on Scotland in March 2012. Mr Dunlop is also a Conservative councillor in West Sussex. [1]

History

Dunlop was adviser to Margaret Thatcher, in 1988, he had graduated to Thatcher’s inner circle as one of the seven members of her “policy unit”, specialising in defence, employment, tax reform and Scotland. [2]

After this he worked for the lobbying company Politics International, now known as Interel Consulting UK. He retired from the company in 2010 to concentrate on his political work. [1] He has also worked under John Major and Michael Howard. [2]

Dunlop graduated in economics from Glasgow University before becoming special adviser to former Defence Secretary George Younger [2]
