- Forza Italia coordinator for the Provincial Council of Rome. Stood for the post of chairman of the Provincial Council of Rome (April 2008).
- Rome City Council: member of the Social Services Committee (1981) and member of the Executive with responsibility for education, general affairs, agriculture and the Tiber waterside (1985-1989).
- Lazio Region: member of the Regional Council (2000), chairman of the Culture Committee (1990-1992), group leader of Democrazia Cristiana (1992-1994), member of the Regional Executive with responsibility for transport (1994-1995). Re-elected member of the Regional Council in 1995 and in 2000 for Forza Italia.
