Clunes in August 2025 at the end of her posting as Ambassador to Poland

Anna Clunes CMG OBE has since August 2025 been an 'Advisor' in the Cabinet Office as she rather shyly puts it in her LinkedIn page. In fact according to official data on the Cabinet Office she has the rank of SCS3 and a salary of between £140,000 - £144,999 in the National Security Secretariat, suggesting she may be a Deputy National Security Advisor. This is confirmed by a public announcement by the US Department of State on the occasion of Clunes meeting Senior Bureau for European and Eurasian Affairs Official Brendan P Hanrahan at the Department of State on 12 August. She is, in other words, an intelligence officer. It is not clear whether she has always been one, via a covert career in MI6 or not.
