Nichols' career began at accountants [[PricewaterhouseCoopers]] in 1987 as a senior manager. In 1994 he joined the corporate finance division [[British Gas]]; joined PR firm [[Citigate Dewe Rogerson]] in 1996 as deputy group finance director, [[Incepta Group]] plc in 1998 as executive director, then group finance director in 1999 and chief executive in 2001; in 2005 he was appointed chief executive of PR firm [[Huntsworth]] PLC.
