'''South Region''' was one of three Regional Divisions within [[RUC Special Branch]] in Northern Ireland.

According to the report of the Rosemary Nelson Inquiry, which covered the late 1990s:
::During the entire period with which we were concerned the organisation of Special Branch (SB) reflected that of the rest of the [[Royal Ulster Constabulary]] (RUC). The three regions, Belfast, North and South, enjoyed a considerable degree of autonomy. Regional Heads at the rank of Chief Superintendent were based at each of the Regional Headquarters; in South Region this was housed at Mahon Road in Portadown. Although a number of SB officers operated from here, notably those within what was called the Source Unit, those attached to the [[Tasking Coordination Group]] (TCG) and those who carried out surveillance in the region, the remainder were based within police stations in the Sub-Divisions.
