Cristal is a Lt. Colonel (retired) in the IDF. He served in Israeli negotiation teams with Jordan and the Palestinians, from 1994 to 2001. Since 2001, he has been an advisor and consultant to businesspeople and public officials. Cristal was due to lead a session for NHS managers and union officials in Manchester in early May 2012, entitled The Role of Negotiation in Dealing With Conflict, run by the Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust.
