Hemingway has worked as head of communications at a number of banks including; [[Halifax]], [[Birmingham Midshires]], [[HSBC]], [[First Direct]] and [[Bank of Scotland]]. At [[Halifax]] he aided the banks merger with [[Bank of Scotland]] in 2001 and at [[HSBC]] he looked after their four main UK brands - HSBC Retail, HSBC Business Banking, First Direct and Marks and Spencer Bank.

After working for HSBC he worked for the [[Payments Council]].
