The Journal of Conflict Resoultion focuses on conflict between and within states, but also explores a variety of inter-group and interpersonal conflicts that may help in understanding problems of war and peace. <ref name= "About"/>

It is described as an interdisciplinary journal of social scientific theory and research on human conflict. It partcularly focuses on international conflict, but its editors are open to a variety of contributions about intergroup conflict, as well as between nations, that may help in understanding problems of war and peace. <ref>
