He served as Parliamentary Secretary for Home Affairs in 1969-1970. In February 1969, he was one of 12 Unionist MPs who signed a statement calling for the resignation of [[Terence O'Neill]], the UUP leader and Northern Ireland Prime Minister.<ref>W.D. Taylor served as Assembly member for Fermanagh-South Tyrone in 1973-74. In January 1974 he moved a motion against the Sunningdale Agreement at the [[Ulster Unionist Council]].
