The [[Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine]] (IPEM) is UK's professional body, learned society and registered charity, for physicists and engineers in the field of medicine. The institute was founded in 1995 as a hybrid of the [[Hospital Physicists’ Association]] (1943), the [[Hospital Physics Technicians' Association]] (1952) and the [[Biological Engineering Society]] (1960) under the name, the [[Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine and Biology]] (IPEMB). It changed its name to IPEM in 1997.
