Koshland left the USA in 1973 for Australia. In 1989 she established and chaired the Education Foundation (in Australia) 'as a think-do tank to support innovation in public education'.

More recently, Koshland launched [[Australian Learning Lecture]], or [[ALL]], a 10-year project to 'bring big ideas in learning to national attention' in Australia.
