Daniel Sternberg is the son of [[Michael Vivian Sternberg]] KC (born 1948), a prominent family law barrister and President of the [[Faith & Belief Forum]]. He is the grandson of the late philanthropist and interfaith campaigner Sir [[Sigmund Sternberg]] (1921–2016), who was a major figure in British-Jewish communal life and interfaith relations.

The Sternberg family has been deeply involved in legal, philanthropic and interfaith work for three generations.

== Legal career ==
Sternberg was called to the Bar and practised as a barrister at [[Foundry Chambers]], specialising in extradition, public law and international criminal matters.
