*1961 - The [[Glasgow Young Zionist Organisation]] has undertaken to raise £5,000 over 5 years to provide a weaving shop in the Dr. Israel Goldstein Youth Village at Kataman, near Jerusalem. This was stated at the annual meeting Mr. [[Cyril Furst]] and Mr [[Edwin Mandel]]. All surplus funds derived from the various social activities during the next few years are to be devoted to the project. Mr. Furst spoke of the satisfaction felt at the creation of a Junior Zionist Group for 14- to 17-year-olds which in a short time had built up a large and enthusiastic membership A message of greetings was received from Mr. [[Edward Woolfson]] J.P. Hon. Life-President of the organisation, who has in the past 18 successive years delivered the Presidential Address at the annual general meeting, but was unable to be present on this occasion.<ref>JC, Page 14 for 02-06-1961</ref>

*1985 - A plea for more substantial donations through the provision of scholarships and prizes to the Hebrew University was made by Dr [[Cyril Furst]], co-chairman of the [[Glasgow Group of the Friends of the university]], at its annual meeting. He reported a highly successful year but added that the precarious finances of the university made the work of the group more vital than ever, and every effort must be made to increase funds. Anxiety was expressed by the treasurer, Mr [[Michael Tenby]], at the fact that 15 persons gave 50 per cent of the donations. There were still many people in the 30-40 age group who gave nothing at all. In all £17,645 had been remitted to London during the year and to date £36,000 had been collected for the Glasgow Fellowship Project which was within target of two years contributions. Mr [[Norman Naftalin]], a former chairman of the group, and Dr [[Allan Berkley]] and Mr [[Frederick Levine]] also spoke. Dr [[Sidney Naftalin]] presided.<ref>Page 11 for 01-11-1985</ref>
